Heavy Downpour Sweeps Across Various Territories in the UAE

As the UAE experiences a significant weather shift, several regions encountered heavy rain on Saturday due to the influence of a surface air depression extension along with an upper atmospheric air depression extension, as reported by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). The intense rainfall prompted the NCM to issue cautionary statements and advisories.

The Khatm Al Shakla area in Al Ain witnessed light to moderate rainfall, while heavier downpours were observed on the Shawka-Wadi Al Helo road, Sharjah-Kalba road, North Al Manai, Asfni, Masafi, various parts of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Khalifa Street in Fujairah, and other regions across the country, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.

Notably, Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah recorded the lowest temperature of 23.1°C on Saturday at 3:45 am, reflecting the diverse weather conditions experienced across the UAE.

With the occurrence of heavy rain, the National Centre of Meteorology issued a call for heightened vigilance and cautious driving during wet conditions. Individuals were advised to stay away from areas prone to flooding and surface-run-offs. Concurrently, the Dhabi Police also emphasized the importance of safe driving practices and urged motorists to adhere to variable speed limits displayed on electronic signboards.

The weather forecast for Sunday anticipates fair to partly cloudy conditions, with a possibility of cumulus cloud formation in the eastern and southern regions of the UAE. Some inland areas may experience rainfall, accompanied by a rise in temperature. Nighttime and Monday morning conditions are expected to be humid along certain coastal areas. Winds are projected to be light to moderate, with southeasterly to northeasterly directions, occasionally intensifying and causing blowing dust during the daytime. Wave conditions are expected to be slight to moderate at times in the Arabian Gulf and generally slight in the Sea of Oman.

The National Centre of Meteorology provided temperature projections for various regions on Sunday, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Al Ain, Liwa, and Al Ruwais. The temperatures are estimated to fall within the ranges mentioned for each respective area.

The forecast for Monday indicates fair to partly cloudy conditions, with the potential for low clouds over the eastern coast in the morning and a possibility of cumulus cloud formation towards the south, potentially accompanied by rainfall. Tuesday’s weather is anticipated to be fair to partly cloudy, especially towards the east. On Wednesday, the forecast suggests similar conditions with humidity at night and in the morning. Thursday’s weather is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, particularly in eastern regions, and a probability of fog or mist formation is projected for some northern areas during the night and morning hours.

As the UAE navigates through these weather changes, it is essential for residents and travelers to stay informed about the latest updates from the National Centre of Meteorology and adhere to safety recommendations to ensure a smooth and secure experience during changing weather conditions.
