A Comprehensive Guide to Salik in Dubai: Two New Salik Gates to Launch in Dubai on November 24th

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has recently introduced two new Salik toll gates to enhance traffic management and improve road infrastructure. These new gates are strategically located on key roads within the city.

What is Salik?

Salik is an electronic toll collection system implemented by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It aims to manage traffic congestion and improve road infrastructure.

How does Salik work?

  • Salik Tag: A small electronic tag is affixed to your vehicle’s windshield.
  • Toll Gates: When your vehicle passes through a Salik toll gate, the tag is automatically detected, and the toll fee is deducted from your Salik account.
  • Payment Methods: You can top up your Salik account through various channels, including online, mobile apps, and authorized payment centers.

Why New Salik Gates?

The primary objective behind introducing these new Salik gates is to optimize traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve overall road safety. By strategically placing toll gates, the RTA aims to encourage the use of public transportation and discourage unnecessary private vehicle usage.

Locations of the New Salik Gates

The two new Salik gates have been installed at the following locations:

  1. Sheikh Zayed Road: A new Salik gate has been added on Sheikh Zayed Road, likely near an existing toll plaza or a new interchange.
  2. Al Ain Road: Another new Salik gate has been implemented on Al Ain Road, potentially at a strategic location to manage traffic flow.

Total Number of Salik Gates in Dubai

As of now, there are eight Salik toll gates in Dubai. These gates are strategically located on major roads and bridges across the city. Here’s a list of the current Salik gates:

  1. Al Maktoum Bridge (Umm Hurair Road)
  2. Al Garhoud Bridge (Sheikh Rashid Road)
  3. Al Mamzar North (Al Ittihad Road)
  4. Al Mamzar South (Al Ittihad Road)
  5. Al Safa (Sheikh Zayed Road)
  6. Airport Tunnel (Beirut Street)
  7. Al Barsha (Sheikh Zayed Road)
  8. Jebel Ali (Sheikh Zayed Road)

Please note that there are plans to introduce two new Salik gates in November 2024, which will bring the total number of Salik gates to ten.

Avoiding Salik Fines:

  • Ensure Sufficient Balance: Always maintain a sufficient balance in your Salik account to avoid fines.
  • Check Tag Functionality: Regularly check if your Salik tag is working correctly.
  • Follow Traffic Rules: Adhere to traffic rules and avoid speeding or reckless driving, as this can lead to additional fines.
