Wrapping Up the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival 2023: Celebrating Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism

The eighth edition of the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival concluded with resounding success, signifying a significant step in promoting cultural heritage and sustainable tourism in Ajman. Held at the Emirates Hospitality Centre from 31st July, the festival was inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council. Over the four days, the festival showcased a variety of cultural events, engaging activities, and competitions centered around dates, honey, and local citrus fruits.


Anchoring the festival were compelling competitions that focused on precise measurements of dates and honey varieties, as well as contests highlighting the finest local citrus fruits. Winners across all categories were awarded prizes worth AED 400,000, while active audience participants received vouchers worth AED 20,000. Each day also featured lively auctions, adding to the festival’s excitement and engagement.


The Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) introduced a virtual reality enclave to enhance the festival experience, providing visitors with insights into local heritage and innovative agricultural practices. A series of workshops celebrated traditional crafts and artistry associated with the esteemed palm tree, adding depth to the festival’s allure.


Throughout the four-day duration, captivating folklore performances entertained the audience, celebrating the region’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.
