Dubai Metro Blue Line Construction to Begin in 2025, Completion Slated for 2029

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has announced that construction on the highly anticipated Dubai Metro Blue Line will commence in April 2025. This major infrastructure project, spanning 30 kilometers and featuring 14 stations (nine above ground and five underground), is expected to significantly enhance Dubai’s public transportation network.

The RTA has awarded a Dh20.5 billion contract to a consortium of Turkish and Chinese companies: MAPA, LIMAK, and CRRC. The project is scheduled for completion by September 2029, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Dubai Metro Red Line’s operational launch.

The Blue Line will connect key urban areas, including Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, and Dubai Festival City, with travel times estimated to range from 10 to 25 minutes.

This ambitious project is a cornerstone of Dubai’s vision for sustainable urban development and aims to reduce traffic congestion while providing efficient and convenient transportation for residents and visitors.
