2024 Chevrolet Traverse Puts Family Safety First with More Tech and Z71 Off-Road Capability

The all-new 2024 Chevrolet Traverse has been completely redesigned to solidify Chevy’s position in the competitive midsize SUV segment. With its bold design, enhanced safety features increased horsepower and torque, and the addition of the off-road capable Z71 model, the new Traverse is ready to lead the way.

The 2024 Traverse is available in four trims: LS, LT, Z71, and RS. Each trim offers unique design elements and more content choices, along with new and improved safety features and technologies. All models are powered by a brand-new 2.5L turbocharged engine that delivers an impressive 315 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque, surpassing the previous models and providing a 19% increase in torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and optional all-wheel drive, including a special off-road-capable twin-clutch AWD system exclusively available on the Z71 trim. When properly equipped, the Traverse can tow up to 6,433 USD.

The Traverse Z71 is perfect for adventurous families seeking off-road capabilities. It comes standard with features like increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, unique front fascia for improved approach angle, and a twin-clutch AWD system. The Z71 also includes specific dampers with hydraulic rebound control and a dedicated Terrain Mode for optimal off-road performance.

Safety is a top priority in the 2024 Traverse, which comes with an array of standard and available safety and driver assistance features. The Chevy Safety Assist suite is standard across all trims and includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, IntelliBeam® High Beam Assist, and Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, among others. Additional safety features include Rear Park Assist, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and HD Surround Vision, just to name a few. The Traverse also introduces new features like Buckle to Drive, which requires both the driver and front-seat passenger to buckle up before driving, and Rear Seat Belt Reminder, which alerts the driver if second or third-row passengers have not fastened their seat belts. These features aim to reduce fatalities and injuries caused by unbuckled passengers.

For those seeking advanced technology, the Traverse offers available features like Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology, Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, and Driver Attention Assist. The exterior of the Traverse has been redesigned to exude confidence and capability. Its rugged silhouette and strong shoulders give it a commanding presence on the road. Each trim has its own unique accents and details, with options like the Midnight/Sport Edition, all-new lighting, walk-up lighting animation, and a true dual-exhaust system with chrome quad tips. The RS trim stands out with its premium features, including RS badging, 22-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels, and sportier suspension tuning.

Inside, the Traverse prioritizes driver experience and tech-forward design. The spacious interior features clean lines, a lower instrument panel for better visibility, and a best-in-class 17.7-inch color touchscreen. The cabin is equipped with wireless phone charging, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and six USB ports for connectivity. OnStar is also included, providing access to safety, entertainment, and convenience features. The Traverse offers a maximum cargo capacity of 98 cubic feet, along with convenient storage solutions like the pass-through console design and side-by-side cup holders. Available features include heated front and second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and premium seating surfaces.

The Traverse offers flexible seating and cargo configurations to accommodate different needs. It can be equipped with eight-passenger seating or seven-passenger seating with second-row captain’s chairs that have SmartSlide for easy access to the third row. The RS trim comes standard with one-touch folding second-row seats and power-folding third-row seats.
