Empowering Community Safety: Abu Dhabi’s Gas Safety Workshops Promote Responsible Gas Supply and Application

The Abu Dhabi Gas Safety Committee, operating under the Department of Energy (DoE), has successfully organized a series of impactful workshops aimed at enhancing gas safety awareness and practices within the community. Under the theme “Ensuring Safe Gas Supplies and Applications,” these workshops were meticulously designed to cater to diverse segments of society, reinforcing the importance of responsible gas handling.

The initiative kicked off with a workshop focused on empowering gas inspectors from various government bodies in Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s capital. Engineer Abdul Rahman Al-Alawi, the Director of Health, Safety, and Environment at DoE, led this session. The workshop highlighted the pivotal role inspectors play in identifying potential hazards during inspection operations. Participants were educated on effective corrective measures and the significance of promptly reporting high-risk situations or violations to the Committee.

Concurrently, a second workshop was held at the Mufleh Aayed Al Ahbabi Majlis in Al Ain, targeting villa and home residents. This session was dedicated to educating the community about the safe handling and usage of gas cylinders. With an emphasis on responsible practices, participants gained valuable insights into the necessary corrective actions to ensure their safety.

Engineer Abdul Rahman Al-Alawi emphasized the unwavering commitment of the Abu Dhabi Gas Safety Committee to executing inspection and awareness campaigns as per the established plan. These initiatives adhere to internationally recognized best practices, showcasing Abu Dhabi’s dedication to community welfare and hazard prevention. He expressed gratitude to the committee’s government entity members for their invaluable collaboration, which significantly contributed to the success of the endeavor.

Both workshops prioritized delivering crucial advice and guidelines related to the application of liquefied petroleum gas systems. These guidelines were tailored to suit the specific classifications and uses of each system, ensuring practicality and relevance. Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the committee’s forthcoming responsibilities in further enhancing community safety and property security.

In tandem with the ongoing Gas Supply and Application Safety awareness campaign, the Abu Dhabi Gas Safety Committee has conducted field inspections covering more than 2,800 buildings. This proactive effort is set to conclude within a six-month period, with a focus on identifying high-risk violations and promptly implementing corrective measures.
