MoHRE Acknowledges Firm Commitment to Midday Break – Ensuring Worker Welfare

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) praises the resolute dedication demonstrated by “most establishments” towards observing the Midday Break regulations. This essential practice restricts outdoor work from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. under direct sunlight during the period from 15th June to 15th September.

MoHRE emphasized, “The successful implementation of the Midday Break owes much to the collaborative efforts of federal and local partners.”

Over the span of 15th June to 17th August, MoHRE conducted more than 67,000 inspections of establishments, coupled with over 28,000 guidance visits. Consequently, only 59 violations were detected across establishments, involving 130 workers in breaches.

His Excellency Mohsen Al Nassi, Assistant Undersecretary for Inspection Affairs, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, noted, “The Midday Break stands as a cornerstone of MoHRE’s comprehensive initiatives to uphold labor rights, ensuring occupational safety and health.”

These extensive inspection and awareness campaigns underscore the ministry’s commitment to enforcing decisions and regulations that uplift humanitarian and social standards. By adhering to these measures, the UAE labor market strengthens its competitiveness and adaptability.

The high compliance rate underscores the well-established culture in the UAE labor sector, prioritizing worker rights and well-being. The Midday Break, now in its 19th year, mandates employers to offer shaded areas, cooling equipment, hydration resources, and other amenities to ensure workers’ comfort.

MoHRE encourages both community members and workers to promptly report any violations through their call center at 600590000, the MoHRE app, or the official website.
