UAE Announces Shift to Distance Learning for All Schools from May 5 to May 8

The UAE Ministry of Education (MoE), in coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), has officially announced a temporary shift to distance learning for all educational institutions across the United Arab Emirates.

The transition is scheduled to take effect from Tuesday, May 5, 2026, until Friday, May 8, 2026. This proactive measure applies to all government and private schools, as well as higher education institutions nationwide.

The decision comes as a precautionary step to ensure the safety of students and teaching staff following recent regional security developments and to maintain the continuity of the educational process without interruption. “The safety of our students is our top priority,” a Ministry spokesperson stated. “Our digital infrastructure is fully prepared to host a seamless virtual learning environment for these four days.”

Parents and students are advised to follow the specific schedules and technical instructions provided by their respective schools. Normal in-person classes are expected to resume on Monday, May 11, following the weekend.
